Tensora Signs on to New Mexico’s ABQ-Net, America’s First Open-Access Quantum Network

Tensora is one of the first companies to sign on to New Mexico’s ABQ-Net, the only open-access, entanglement-based quantum network in the United States. We join Infleqtion, Bandelier Technologies, and Aliro Quantum as the network's inaugural users.
Where quantum sensing meets geophysics
Every kilometer of optical fiber in the ground is, in effect, a sensor capable of registering the temperature, strain, and vibration of the earth around it. Quantum networks have the potential to take this a step further than any classical system, because distributing entanglement demands continuous, exquisitely careful measurement of the fiber's response to its environment — measurements that may improve how subtle ground motion is detected and characterized on deployed fiber.
Tensora builds geosensing technologies that detect subtle geological change in service of natural hazard detection, infrastructure resilience, and resource management. We're evaluating how ABQ-Net's datasets, and the quantum sensing techniques behind them, could augment those capabilities — from new reference measurements on deployed fiber to sharper analysis across our product line.
What ABQ-Net is
Launched through support from the New Mexico Technology and Innovation Office, ABQ-Net gives companies access to a live quantum testing environment without requiring them to invest millions building specialized infrastructure themselves. The network was created by Brooklyn-based Qunnect through a contract with Roadrunner Venture Studios and is anchored by Qunnect's Carina entanglement distribution systems. The first two anchor nodes are located at Qunnect's downtown Albuquerque office and the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT), a Department of Energy facility operated by Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory. It's built to expand — future nodes could connect the Air Force Research Laboratory, the University of New Mexico, and Central New Mexico Community College.

ABQ-Net is part of New Mexico's more than $450M investment in quantum company creation — a deliberate strategy connecting the state's national laboratories, universities, and technology companies into a single ecosystem. "ABQ-Net is the connective tissue for New Mexico's quantum ecosystem, connecting our national laboratories, colleges and universities, and technology companies," said Rob Black, Secretary of Economic Development. "We're already seeing companies choose New Mexico because of ABQ-Net, which is exactly the kind of long-term return we hoped this investment would deliver for New Mexicans.”
